Getting Started with Modern Therapy Seattle
Starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown. It can be exciting, a little nerve-wracking, or maybe both. That’s totally okay. We created this page to give you a clear sense of what it’s like to work with us, so you can feel confident, supported, and ready to take this step at your own pace.
Whether you are seeking individual therapy Seattle services, specialized individual therapy for relationship issues, expert support from a trusted Seattle couples therapist, or exploring sex therapy Seattle options, our team is here to help you navigate every step of the process.
We offer in-person sessions at our Seattle office as well as convenient telehealth options for clients throughout Washington.
-
The first step is just filling out our contact form located on our contact page. Once we get your form, our Client Specialist will review your preferences and match you with the therapist who seems like the best fit for your needs - whether that is an individual therapist, a specialized Seattle sex therapist, or a couples therapist Seattle partners rely on.
Once matched, your therapist will email you directly to introduce themselves and explain what happens next. (Sometimes emails go to spam, so if you don’t see one, check there. Your assigned therapist might also give you a quick call to make sure you got it.)
-
The therapist will invite you to a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video. It’s super low-pressure - just a chance to ask questions, see how you vibe with them, and make sure it seems like a good fit for your goals, whether you are starting individual therapy sessions or looking into relationship counseling in Seattle.
For relational therapy, it’s best if all participating members join the consultation. If things feel like a match, the therapist will help you schedule your first full session.
-
Finding the right professional is essential. Whether you are looking for individual counseling in Seattle or sex therapy for intimacy issues, our Client Specialist looks closely at your preferences, logistical needs, and presenting concerns. We connect you with a clinician whose training, background, and clinical interests align with what you are hoping to work through.
-
For sure!
If there’s a particular therapist, identity, or approach that matters to you (such as working specifically with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Seattle or an individual therapist with an existential framework) let us know in your contact form. We’ll do our best to make it happen while still ensuring the therapist is clinically appropriate and has room for new clients.
-
That’s completely okay.
Finding the right therapist is a lot like dating; it can take time to find someone who fits for you, and you are absolutely entitled to keep looking. If the initial match doesn't feel right, you can reach out to us at clientconnections@moderntherapyseattle.com or speak openly with your clinician. We will gladly help you find another seattle sex therapist, couples therapist Seattle provider, or general individual therapist who feels like a much better fit.
